The desire for transformation is ancient, powerful, and necessary. I will not go into a lengthy explanation about this; just know that if you recognize yourself in any aspect of this piece, I support you with all the tools I have. This piece has a title, but over the past two years, most people have simply referred to it as “The Spiderweb Butterfly…”  That makes me happy. Some overlook the spider entirely.

This LEGO spiderweb is a challenging element. The asymmetry makes it unsuitable for patterning, it is too flimsy to be used in a traditional structure, it has a rigid border almost as an afterthought, and the lack of an anti-stud all meant I had to build it on the underside of the LEGO plates. These discordant aspects make it the wrong piece much of the time. Here it is perfect.
