Rick's Pond is a beautiful attraction located within the Hot Springs National Park.
For thousands of years before Europeans came to North America, the hot springs in Arkansas were considered common ground. The land was considered sacred, not just for all people, but for all life. No warfare was permitted in this area, as it was considered neutral ground, sacred to the Great Spirit, and open to all who would come for the healing waters. All life was held safe in the valley, lest the Great Spirit would withdraw his healing breath, and the waters become cold again and lose their healing powers. Now, more than ever, our world needs this kind of unity.
National monuments are our common ground, places that conserve wildlife habitat, safeguard drinking water, and preserve our freedom to explore lands rich in history and culture. From the desert canyons of Baaj Nwaavjo I'tah Kukveni in Arizona to the jagged peaks of Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks in New Mexico, these treasured places remind us of who we are and where we come from.
Join The Wilderness Society on a journey across the American West to visit nine of these special places and meet the people who know them by heart. Discover what is truly at stake if protections are rolled back for wildlife, cultural heritage, and future generations.
Watch, learn, and take action to help defend our national monuments!
