The young Native American girl in this painting is depicted as sad and perhaps lonely. These feelings are shared with the viewer through her sorrowful expression and a small tear in her eye. Hurt, sadness and loneliness are feelings common to everyone at one time or another. While observing this painting the viewer may be caused to recall times of experiencing similar emotions and possibly sense them all over again.
