"Pear Study"
8 x 20" print on canvas
by Kay Aclin
Aclin is a native of Hot Springs, AR. She grew up immersed in art and surrounded by family who emphasized the importance of creativity. Aclin attended Hendrix College in Conway, majoring in pre-med. As an adult, she found herself in Biloxi, MS where her husband was stationed during his service with the Air Force. While there, she began teaching art and selling her own paintings.
Since then, she has devoted her time to studying art and developing her own style. Throughout the years, she has made it a point to study under several notable artists, including M. Douglas Walton, an artist and instructor at Louisiana Tech’s continuing education program. She has worked in a variety of mediums but now focuses primarily on watercolor. Her subjects range from quaint hometown scenes to more colorful, abstract works. Ultimately Aclin believes that “art can be different things to different people” and feels that art is very much an expression of what is happening in an artist’s life at the time the artist is working.
