My piece “Old Questions. Old Answers.” was inspired by Goya’s “The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters,” from his Los Caprichos series. I started with the question, “What would the monsters fear? What ‘beast’ would be in their nightmares and imagination?”

I am a former art teacher from the Arkansas public school system, and my wife was a former employee of a public library. We have seen first-hand how these institutions have been under attack. This piece is a visual response to those experiences.
