The concept for this artwork arose from my grief over our collective experience during the global pandemic. During this time of isolation, I felt connected to the world via the media, and was sad to discover an ugliness in us that rose to the surface.

As a response to this, I created an elaborate installation-shrine to Shiva, the Hindu god of annihilation and regeneration, with a hope that destruction might lead to a civil revolution of tolerance and kindness. I continued to build my artwork around this idea; every creative decision was made with consideration for shrines of hope and my vision of a better world.

Joy Factory is the concept of a closed loop existence, where inhabitants coexist peacefully, isolated from the evils of the world. It is an abstracted version of a harmonious world and is focused on an optimistic hope for us all to live in harmony.
