I've seen people divided over religion and science my entire life. In this painting I ask, "But what if they existed because of each other?"

This painting incorporates imagery symbolizing the Big Bang, the planets, and pulls from the cover of Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution. Wrapped around the edge of the image is the snake from the Christian Creation story.

Growing up, I was taught that science and religion cannot coexist. In my Southern Baptist family, you either believed in a Holy God that created the Earth, or you were hell-bound for believing in Evolution. I think this might be a common discussion for many people growing up in the Bible Belt.

But what if there was Creation in Evolution? What if both things could be true?

This painting is my attempt at finding common ground between my Christian roots and the evidence of Evolution.
