This artwork, titled “Always Choose Earth,” was heavily inspired by the 2026 Artemis II mission. In a time, rife with political turmoil, the mission showed us a glimpse of what humanity could be, and what we should inevitably aspire to.
The piece is a digital illustration composed of two iconic screenshots from NASA's live feed, which I followed intermittently throughout the team’s 10-day journey. Overlaid is a poignant quote from Artemis II astronaut, Christina Koch. She delivered the famous radio transmission after the spacecraft swung around the far side of the moon. The quote was one that really resonated with me; while we may reach for the stars, may we never forget that our foundation is here on earth and the connections we share.
Utilizing a halftone illustration technique and vibrant colors, this piece captures a retrofuturistic aesthetic, reminiscent of the space race over 50 years ago.
