Throughout my work, my interests in humor, sociology, identity and the experience of being human are playfully tackled through portraiture and character design. I highlight what some might consider to be “low brow” art with ridiculous, sporadic, and sometimes dramatic ideas that take their form through a variety of mediums. While my stylization can range from realism to illustrative, there is a center-focus on keeping my inner child alive and well-nourished through silly and imaginative concepts that bring a smirk to the viewer’s face. People and animals often take the focus as developed individuals through my work who express their personality with great pride. The sense of freedom and identity I have found through creating such artwork often finds itself deeply rooted in its own creation. While these concepts can be seen as whimsical and lighthearted, there is usually a darker, more serious side hidden within the details, not unlike those found inside the everyday viewer’s mind and life experience.
