When I think of beasts, I do not imagine creatures with fur or scales, or of teeth and claws. These things are merely characteristics of the physical being. These are attributes assigned by nature herself for the survival of the creature we are observing.
To me, the true beasts around us are the ugly and disturbing ideals we create within our own minds which are based off the things we allow to influence us. Our personal beasts grow and bloom because of our imagination, not because of any fact or tangible reason.
This work investigates the negative personal emotions one might feel after a negative seed is planted and grows within the mind. The emotions of depression, anger, addictive dopamine and sadness are investigated through the exploration of color, materials and application.
Anxiety features cut circles with acrylic, watercolor, graphite, wine and marker applied with emotion on archival watercolor paper.
