In my painting, the beast is climate change and is depicted as a dragon, a mythical beast, a force of chaos and destruction, shooting flames from its mouth, eyes like rays, and a mouth from hell.

This beast, climate change, played a critical role in the destruction, loss of life and property, in the Los Angelos fires - fires that charred more than 60 square miles, burned 12,000 structures and was responsible for 29 deaths.  As I saw these terrible fires that swept through home after home, it was easy to imagine this destructive chaos as a fire-breathing dragon.
